China is willing to work with India to promote the early return of bilateral relations to a stable and healthy development path, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Tuesday in response to a query about an upcoming China-India meeting on the boundary question.
Agreed by China and India, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and India's Special Representative and National Security Adviser Shri Ajit Doval will hold the 23rd meeting of the Special Representatives for China-India Boundary Question in Beijing on Wednesday, according announcements made by the Foreign Ministry on Monday. This will mark the first high-level meeting between the two countries since December 2019.
Speaking at a press conference in Beijing, Lin Jian, the spokesman, responded to media queries on more details of the meeting and on confidence building between the two countries.
"Yesterday, we have announced that the 23rd meeting of Special Representatives for China-India Boundary Question will be held tomorrow, December 18, in Beijing. We will release relevant information about the meeting in due course," Lin said.
"Regarding the issue of rebuilding trust between the two countries as you mentioned, China is willing to work with India to implement the important consensus reached by the top leaders of the two countries, mutually respect each other's core interests and major concerns, enhance mutual trust through dialogue and communication, uphold sincerity and integrity and properly handle differences, so as to promote the early return of bilateral relations to a stable and healthy development track," he said.
Wang Yi is also China's special representative on the China-India boundary question, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs.
