Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Wednesday held talks with his Japanese counterpart Takeshi Iwaya in Beijing.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and Iwaya will also attend the second meeting of High-Level Consultation Mechanism on People-to-People and Cultural Exchanges between China and Japan, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning at a regular press conference on Tuesday.

In November, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on the sidelines of the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Lima. They agreed to maintain high-level exchanges and make good use of high-level dialogue mechanisms in the fields of economy and culture, said Mao, noting that China attaches importance to Foreign Minister Iwaya's visit.
China stands ready to work with Japan to focus on common interests, enhance dialogue and communication, deepen pragmatic cooperation, properly manage and control differences, comprehensively advance the strategic relationship of mutual benefit, and build a constructive and stable China-Japan relationship fit for the new era, said Mao.

Zhao Leji, chairman of China's National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, granted letters of appointment to members of the sixth-term Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Basic Law Committee of the NPC Standing Committee on Wednesday in Beijing.
The name list of the members was adopted at the 13th session of the Standing Committee of the 14th NPC concluded earlier on Wednesday.
Led by Director Shen Chunyao, the 10-member committee, consisting of five members from the mainland and five from Macao, will serve a five-year term.
The ceremony of appointment letters granting was presided over by Li Hongzhong, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee.
