China says EU's investigations constitute trade, investment barriers

2025-01-09 10:31 Last Updated At:13:07

China's Ministry of Commerce said Thursday that the European Union's practices in its foreign subsidy investigations against Chinese enterprises have constituted trade and investment barriers.

The ministry launched the trade and investment barrier investigation into the relevant practices of the European Union (EU) on July 10.

The investigation was initiated at the request of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, whose qualifications and request documents have been verified, according to the ministry.

Under its foreign subsidies regulation, the EU has conducted preliminary, in-depth and raid investigations into Chinese companies involved in sectors such as locomotives, photovoltaics, wind power and security check equipment.

The ministry's investigation involved surveys, hearings and on-site activities in order to gather information from all stakeholders.
