Chinese delegation releases uniform for 9th Asian Winter Games awards ceremonies

With less than a month to go before the 9th Asian Winter Games, the Chinese delegation on Thursday released its attire for the awards ceremonies in the host city of Harbin in east China's Heilongjiang Province.

Designed with the theme of "snow and ice romance", the uniform features a red snowflake pattern symbolizing the determination of the athletes and conveying the Eastern philosophy of harmonious coexistence and inclusiveness.

Women's freestyle aerials Olympic champion Xu Mengtao, short track speed skating world champions Liu Guanyi and Zang Yize, and speed skaters Ahenaer Adake and Du Haonan presented the clothing during the release ceremony.

"It's my dream. I'm looking forward to the event. I hope through hard work, I can stand on the podium in this awards ceremony uniform with my teammates," Xu said.

The indoor clothing is made of China's first self-developed high-performance waterproof and moisture-permeable material, which can help keep athletes warm and comfortable. The outdoor clothing has a body microclimate adjustment system to store and conduct heat.

"With wind and waterproofing functions, the clothing can also free us from sweating during trainings. This design for this year's Asian Winter Games is indeed amazing. It looks nice to us the athletes. I want to wear it on the podium at the Asian Winter Games," Liu said.

Scheduled for Feb 7 to 14, the upcoming Games marks the second time for Harbin to host the Games and the third time for the country.

Under the theme "Dream of Winter, Love Among Asia," the Games has so far received 1,275 athlete registrations (755 men and 520 women) from 34 countries and regions across Asia. This is expected to make it the edition with the highest number of participating countries, regions, and athletes.

CMG's broadcast vehicles head to Harbin for Asian Winter Games

China Media Group (CMG)'s ultra-high-definition broadcast vehicles have begun their journey from Beijing to Harbin, where they will provide coverage for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Asian Winter Games, along with several key sports events.

Set to open on February 7 in Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang Province, the Games will mark China's first major international winter sports event since the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. This year's edition will feature record participation, with over 1,500 athletes from 34 countries and regions.

The first batch of the fleet, distinguished by their iconic "Chinese Red" color, departed from CMG's headquarters on Guanghua Road on Friday. These vehicles, previously deployed during the Beijing Winter Olympics and the 2023 National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities in Sanya, are equipped with cutting-edge technology to ensure broadcasts meet Olympic standards.

In Harbin, the fleet will cover a range of winter sports events, including figure skating, short track speed skating, halfpipe events, cross-country skiing, and biathlon, in addition to the opening and closing ceremonies.

The 1,300-kilometer journey from Beijing to Harbin is expected to take three days, with a total of 30 vehicles being sent to the Games. Some of these vehicles also served in covering the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, continuing CMG's tradition of delivering top-tier international sports broadcasts.
