The rail-sea intermodal trains have transported 960,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of cargo through the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor in 2024, marking an 11-percent year-on-year increase, according to China Railway Nanning Group.

The rapid growth of this trade corridor has facilitated the entry of agricultural products from ASEAN countries, including the rice from Cambodia, durians from Thailand, and passion fruit from Vietnam, into the Chinese market. At the same time, Chinese products such as new energy vehicles, tea, and building materials have gained popularity in and been exported more to Belt and Road cooperation countries.

As of Thursday, cargo varieties transported by rail-sea intermodal trains have expanded to 1,166 types. The trains now connect 73 cities of 18 provinces in China and serve 548 ports across 126 countries and regions globally.

Representatives of Chinese Navy missile frigate Xuchang and minesweeper Chishui took part in a series of at-harbor exchange activities in Singapore on Tuesday, the fifth day of a joint maritime exercise between Chinese and Singaporean Navies, which is entering the at-sea training phase on Wednesday according to the schedule. From Friday to Tuesday, representatives of the Chinese PLA Navy participating in the "China-Singapore Exercise Cooperation 2025" joint maritime exercise were invited to attend the opening ceremony, exercise planning meetings, and professional exchanges, and visited the Singapore Navy Museum.

During the exercise, the two sides jointly conducted damage control drills, sports competitions, and ship visits. Through friendly and open exchanges, servicemen of the Chinese and Singaporean navies fostered deep understanding and mutual trust.

"During the port call, participants of the exercise from both sides actively engaged in mutual learning and exchange. This has helped foster professional cooperation and mutual learning between the two navies, enhancing trust and coordination in preparation for the upcoming live-fire drill on the sea," said Dong Wenping, an officer from Chinese missile frigate Xuchang.

Starting from Wednesday, the joint exercise will enter the at-sea training phase. Naval vessels from both countries will conduct joint drills focused on subjects including naval gunfire anti-surface strike, at-sea replenishment, and joint search and rescue operations.
