China's first homegrown large cruise ship receives over 650,000 tourists

China's first domestically built large cruise ship, Adora Magic City, has completed 90 journeys and welcomed over 650,000 tourists since beginning its commercial operation over a year ago.

The cruise ship, which embarked on its maiden voyage on Jan 1, 2024, is 323.6 meters long with a gross tonnage of 135,500 tons and can accommodate up to 5,246 passengers in 2,125 guest rooms.

Nearly 5,000 tourists have boarded the ship for a trip from Shanghai to Japan and South Korea for this year's Spring Festival holiday.

This year, the ship plans to visit multiple cruise ports in China and embark on themed voyages along the country's coast.

With its long industrial chain and a high degree of internationalization, the cruise industry is often called "the golden industry that floats." Over 1,000 domestic and foreign manufacturers were involved in building Adora Magic City.

Meanwhile, China's second homegrown large cruise ship is expected to be delivered by the end of 2026 and will start international journeys from Guangzhou in 2027.

Global Developer Conference underway to promote implementation of AI scenarios

      2025-02-22 16:52 Last Updated At:17:07

The three-day Global Developer Conference is currently underway in Shanghai, focusing on advancing the real-world application of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and accelerating the commercialization of AI.

Running from Friday to Sunday, the event has gathered over 100 developer communities from around the world to discuss industrial solutions for large language models and promote AI applications.

It highlights significant breakthroughs in key AI areas, such as large-scale models, computing power, and software ecosystems.

The event is taking place as global attention focuses on China's growing influence in the AI sector, highlighted by the recent rise of Chinese AI startup DeepSeek.

On Monday, Goldman Sachs strategists predicted a potential 15 to 20 percent surge in China's stock market, driven by the country's rapid adoption of AI technologies.

They also forecast that AI adoption could potentially bring in 200 billion U.S. dollars in investment in the coming years.

According to a report released by the China Internet Network Information Center, more than 16 percent of China's population had become users of generative AI as of June 2024.

The report also revealed that approximately 4,500 companies had integrated generative AI into their operations, generating a core business value of around 80 billion U.S. dollars.
