Several hospitals in the Chinese provinces of Guangdong and Shanxi witnessed the birth of babies on Wednesday, the first day of the Year of the Snake, adding an extra layer of excitement to the arrival of the Chinese New Year.
Mr. Xiao's baby was the first to be born on Wednesday at the Boai Hospital of Zhongshan, south China's Guangdong Province.
"We hope our child is healthy and safe, grows up happily, and has a joyful childhood. We also hope that our child will become responsible and contribute to society after growing up," said Xiao and his wife.
A total of seven babies were born at the hospital from the early morning until 12:00 on Wednesday.
At the Taiyuan Maternal and Child Health Hospital in north China's Shanxi Province, Yao Jiali gave birth on Wednesday morning. The medical staff took a family photo for Yao and her family members, welcoming a new life into the world.
"I still find it quite magical. I was very emotional when my child was born. I hope for his health and safety," Yao said.
The medical staff also expressed their excitement in welcoming new lives at the beginning of the Chinese New Year.
"Witnessing the birth of this little baby in the Year of the Snake is a truly heartwarming experience. I feel very excited," said Gao Rui, a midwife at Boai Hospital.
"We are very happy to see the baby born smoothly. We feel full of happiness and vitality," said Liang Jinfeng, a midwife at Taiyuan Maternal and Child Health Hospital.
