Chinese animated blockbuster "Ne Zha 2," the highest-grossing animated film of all time, premiered in Jakarta, Indonesia on Saturday, attracting a packed audience.
The nearly 400-seat venue was sold out. Throughout the screening, Indonesian moviegoers laughed, gasped and applauded, fully blown away by the movie.
After the screening, many young viewers gathered near the "Ne Zha 2" posters, filming videos and eagerly recommending the movie to others.
"I watched 'Ne Zha 1', and now, after waiting for five years, finally 'Ne Zha 2' is here, and totally not disappointing. Every single scene was very, very exciting. All the animation is very very detailed for 'Ne Zha 2'," said Lesley Simpson, one of the viewers.
"I believe they are curious to see how come this movie is not only the biggest animated movie of all time, it's also the biggest non-American movie in the box office, the biggest Chinese movie of all time as well, because of the quality of the animation is so good. The story is also very well done. So, we see that that maybe there's a lot of potential for Chinese animation in the future," said Oscar Prajnaphalla, head of marketing at Warner Bros. Indonesia, the movie's local distributor.
"Ne Zha 2" will officially hit the screens in Indonesia on March 21.
The Chinese animated film's Indonesia premier follows its screenings in other Southeast Asian countries such as Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand.
