China will advance scientific and technological innovation to power economic growth, Premier Li Qiang said in a keynote speech to the China Development Forum 2025 in Beijing on Sunday.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the two-day forum, Li said the approach to strengthening enterprises' sci-tech innovation capabilities will involve greater policy support in the form of increased investment and optimized resource allocation, an AI-focused initiative, and a dedicated national fund.

"We'll support various enterprises to boldly explore new areas and arenas by increasing investment and optimizing resource allocation, among other measures. We will deepen the implementation of the 'Artificial Intelligence Plus' initiative to empower various industries and establish a mechanism for driving investment growth in future industries. We will set up a national entrepreneurial investment guidance fund and expand the scale of re-loans for technological innovation and transformation. All this is aimed at encouraging companies to accelerate innovation and foster the continuous emergence of new technologies, new business models, and new growth drivers. This is how I see the Chinese economy in terms of scientific and technological advancement," said Li.

The China Development Forum 2025 is taking place with the theme of "Unleashing Development Momentum for Stable Growth of Global Economy". The high-profile event has gathered 86 official delegates of multinational companies from 21 countries, a record high.
