China's central government has launched an online platform to gather reports on secessionist forces' oppressive actions in the Taiwan region, a spokesman said on Wednesday.
The move comes as Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities are intensifying suppression of political dissent and its crackdown on supporters of cross-Strait exchanges, Chen Binhua, spokesman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, told a press conference in Beijing.
"Recently, the DPP authorities have frequently went after and persecuted political dissidents, as well as political parties, groups, and individuals in Taiwan that support the peaceful and integrated development of cross-Strait relations. Certain Taiwan separatist organizations and individuals, public servants, as well as pro-DPP online influencers have acted as enforcers and accomplices, emboldening the DPP authorities in its wrongdoings, " Chen said.
"In response, a 'dedicated section for reporting the malicious acts of Taiwan separatist enforcers and accomplices in persecuting compatriots in Taiwan' has been launched today (Wednesday) on the official website of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office. Those who fall victim of such suppression or possess relevant information are encouraged to submit reports to this email address, jubao@suremail.cn," said the spokesman.
