Firefighters in southwest China's Yunnan Province have quickly mobilized to mitigate hazards after tremors from a 7.9-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar were felt in several areas of the province.
Strong tremors were reported in some places in Yunnan, which borders Myanmar, following the earthquake that struck Myanmar on Friday. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported in Yunnan so far.
According to local fire departments, traffic, transportation, electricity supply, and communications remain normal in areas bordering Myanmar, including Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, Lincang City, Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture, and Baoshan City.
The epicenter was monitored at 21.85 degrees north latitude and 95.95 degrees east longitude. The quake happened at a depth of 30 km, said a report issued by the China Earthquake Networks Center.
