China is ready to work with Malaysia to build a high-level strategic China-Malaysia community with a shared future, so as to usher in a new "Golden 50 Years" for bilateral ties, said President Xi Jinping in meeting with Malaysian King Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.
Xi arrived in the Malaysian capital city on Tuesday for a state visit to Malaysia, the second leg of his current three-nation Southeast Asia tour.
During the meeting, Xi said China and Malaysia are good neighbors, good friends and good partners, who visit each other as often as family members, and their relations have gone through a magnificent half-century and are embracing an even brighter future.
Xi expressed his readiness to work with the Malaysian king to guide the long-term and steady development of bilateral relations and write a new chapter of good-neighborliness, friendship, solidarity and cooperation.
Xi said China and Malaysia should continue to deepen political mutual trust and support each other on issues concerning their core interests and major concerns.
China and Malaysia should deepen synergy of their development strategies, draw on each other's strengths for mutual benefit and win-win results, and jointly pursue modernization, Xi said.
Xi urged efforts of both countries to ensure sound implementation of major cooperation projects, such as the "Two Countries, Twin Parks" program and the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project, and foster bilateral cooperation in future industries, such as artificial intelligence, the digital economy and the green economy.
China welcomes more high-quality Malaysian agricultural products to go on the Chinese market, and encourages Chinese enterprises to invest in Malaysia, he said.
Xi said China stands ready to promote "Confucian-Islamic Civilizational Dialogue" with Malaysia and carry out further cooperation with the country in culture, tourism and education to enhance people-to-people exchanges between the two sides.
China supports Malaysia playing in its role as the ASEAN chair and is willing to work with the country to implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, and promote the Global South's pursuit of solidarity-driven collective advancement and common development to add more certainty and positive energy to the region and the world at large, he said.
Also speaking at the meeting, King Sultan Ibrahim described Xi's state visit to Malaysia as a major event in bilateral relations, which fully demonstrates the high level of Malaysia-China relations.
Noting that his visit to China in September last year remains fresh in his memory, the king expressed his confidence that Xi's visit will comprehensively enhance bilateral relations and promote vigorous development of bilateral cooperation in various fields.
China has made impressive achievements in development, thanks to Xi's great foresight and the hard work of the Chinese people, he said.
Noting that Malaysia attaches great importance to its relations with China, the king said his country will work with China for win-win cooperation to advance the building of the high-level strategic community with a shared future, no matter how the international situation changes.
Malaysia also attaches importance to regional economic integration, firmly supports the Belt and Road Initiative, and is willing to strengthen trade and investment cooperation with China to jointly stabilize industrial and supply chains, enhance connectivity, and strengthen educational and people-to-people exchanges, he said.
The king said the Malaysian side speaks highly of China's recent central conference on work related to neighboring countries, placing a high value on China’s important role in addressing global and regional challenges.
As the ASEAN chair and the Country Coordinator for ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations, Malaysia is committed to promoting greater development of ASEAN-China relations and jointly building a peaceful and prosperous future, he said.
Prior to the meeting, King Sultan Ibrahim hosted a welcome ceremony for Xi at the National Palace.
Xi attended the king's welcome banquet for him after their meeting.
