China urges the United States to stop exerting maximum pressure on and intimidating the Chinese side, and to resolve differences in bilateral trade through equal dialogue, Chinese Ministry of Commerce Spokeswoman He Yongqian said on Thursday.
When replying to a media query at a press conference in Beijing about the U.S. tariff abuse since April 2, the spokeswoman said the Chinese Ministry of Commerce has been maintaining communication with the corresponding government agency of the U.S. administration, and that China is open to conduct economic and trade consultation with the U.S. side on the basis of mutual respect.
"China's Ministry of Commerce has been maintaining working-level communication with its U.S. counterpart. China's position has always been clear, and we hold an open attitude towards consultation with the U.S. side in the economic and trade fields. The unilateral tariff increase was entirely initiated by the U.S. The party who creates a problem is the one who should resolve it. We urge the U.S. to immediately stop the maximum pressure exertion, coercion and intimidation, and resolve differences with China through equal dialogue on the basis of mutual respect," she said.
