The tour started with a visit to the Zhuhai Gongbei Customs Headquarters, where members gained insights into the history, functions and operations of Gongbei Customs. This year also marks the 100th anniversary of the passing of Dr Sun Yat-sen. The delegation accordingly headed to Zhongshan to visit the former residence of Dr Sun and the Museum of Dr Sun Yat-Sen, to learn about his life and patriotic spirit.

The next day, the delegation headed to the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station in Shenzhen and visited the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Science and Technology Museum and Daya Bay Port to understand nation's nuclear power development and the importance of nuclear security as one of the fields in the holistic approach to national security, as well as the significant role of nuclear energy in achieving the carbon neutrality goals of the country. The delegation later explored the Longgang Energy Ecological Park, which was transformed from a waste incineration plant, to understand the national green development concept and related achievements. The delegation also paid a visit to the Dafen Oil Painting Village under the lead of the Guangdong Copyright Administration of Guangdong Province to learn about the importance of respect and protection for intellectual property rights.

On the last day of the trip, the delegation toured the Shenzhen Reservoir and the Yuehai Water Services Exhibition Hall where members reviewed the history and developments of the supply of Dongjiang water to Hong Kong over the past 60 years, gaining a deeper understanding of the strong ties between Guangdong and Hong Kong and the significance of a stable water supply to Hong Kong's sustainable development, which showcased the country's support to Hong Kong. The itineraries on the same day also included a visit to the BYD Company Limited's headquarters in Shenzhen, where members experienced a ride on the Skyshuttle, the company's driverless intelligent rail transit system, to look into the national development of the green smart mass transit system. The delegation also headed to the Dongjiang Column Memorial Hall in Shenzhen to learn about the history of the War of Resistance and the spirit of patriotism, thereby promoting a sense of national identity.

The tour was partially funded by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau and the Youth Development Commission. Customs YES will continue to organise more exchange activities to deepen the understanding of youth on the development of the country and Hong Kong's role and opportunities in national development.

HKSAR Government responds to media enquiries on reporting, photo and video-taking at prohibited places specified in subsidiary legislation made under Safeguarding National Security Ordinance

In response to media enquiries on reporting, photo and video-taking at prohibited places specified in the subsidiary legislation made under the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance, a spokesman for the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region today (May 16) said the following:

The Secretary for Security, Mr Tang Ping-keung, at the meeting of the Legislative Council Subcommittee on Two Items of Subsidiary Legislation Made under the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance and the subsequent media session yesterday (May 15), clearly said that according to section 45 of the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance, a "specified officer" (including a police officer or a guard of the prohibited place), who has reasonable grounds to believe that exercising such power is necessary for safeguarding national security, may order any person not to do or cease to do such acts as that of approaching or inspecting (including doing so by electronic or remote means) a prohibited place, and such officer may also order persons in the neighbourhood of a prohibited place to leave. Any person who contravenes an order commits an offence.

There is no problem for members of the public to purely "check in" and take photos near a prohibited place while passing by, without any intention of endangering national security. However, if they deliberately take photos or videos of the entrances or the interior of a prohibited place so as to inspect such place, or engage in other conduct during photo or video-taking giving people reasonable grounds to believe that they may endanger national security, police officers or guards of the prohibited place have the power to ask the members of the public to leave in accordance with the above legal requirements and the judgment made at the scene at the time.
