China hopes that the U.S. will not have "persecution delusion" and will stop using others as an excuse, a Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman said on Thursday.
Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, the spokesman, made the comment on U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's recent remarks on development of the Chinese military in disregard of China's principles of no conflict, no confrontation, and peaceful coexistence.
In response, Zhang reiterated at a press conference in Beijing that the U.S. should not continue to hype up the so-called "China Military Threat" fallacy.
"Some people in the U.S. always view the Chinese military through tinted glasses, hyping up the so-called 'China Military Threat.' I believe this is the very obstacle in current China-U.S. military exchanges. No conflict, no confrontation, and peaceful coexistence are the most fundamental shared interest between China and the U.S., and also a universal hope of people around the world. We have a clear understanding of our own development, and hope that the U.S. will not have 'persecution delusion' and will stop using others as an excuse," said the spokesman
