Russia claimed Thursday that it had attacked Ukraine's airport facilities, while Ukraine said on the same day that it had engaged in 104 combats with Russian forces at the front.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a briefing released on Thursday that its army used long-range, high-precision sea-based weapons, hypersonic missile "Dagger" and drones as a cluster to strike Ukraine's airport infrastructure, which was planned to house Western-made military aircraft, adding that all targets were hit.

Meanwhile, the Russian air defense forces shot down two Ukrainian Air Force's MiG-29 fighter jets, 62 unmanned aerial vehicles, and intercepted several U.S.-made missiles and rockets.

On the same day, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that its forces had 104 combat engagements on the front line over the past 24 hours, with the most intense ones in Pokrovsk and Toretsk sectors, where Russian forces launched 23 and 25 attacks respectively.

The Ukrainian air force said it shot down 23 drones launched by Russia in the wee hours of Thursday.

At present, both Russia and Ukraine are stepping up drone attacks against each other.

According to Russia Today, a Russian military drone team said they are closely tracking the movement of the Ukrainian army, claiming that Russia's output of military drones is also increasing.

British media reported that the Ukrainian army has beefed up its defense against drone attacks. The report quoted experts as saying that each Ukrainian drone operator has to fly 50 to 60 drones a day.

No progress in Gaza ceasefire talks with Israel: Hamas official

2024-06-30 09:05 Last Updated At:10:37

Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan said on Saturday there has been no progress being made in hostage swap and ceasefire talks with Israel over the Gaza conflict.

He condemned the Israeli blockade against the Gaza Strip, and called for more humanitarian aid deliveries to the coastal enclave.

Hamas is ready to deal positively with any proposal that secures a permanent ceasefire and Israel's full withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, Hamdan told a news conference in Beirut.

Nearly nine months into the Israel-Hamas war, vast swathes of Gaza lay in ruins amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water, and medicine.

Over 37,800 Palestinians have been killed and 86,800 others wounded since the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli conflict broke out in early October last year, Gaza-based health authorities said in a statement on Saturday.

The Israeli military on Saturday announced the deaths of two soldiers killed in combat in northern Gaza, as Israeli forces pressed on with an offensive in the Shejaia neighborhood in Gaza City.

Israel has lost 670 soldiers in Gaza since Oct 7, according to Israeli tallies.
