The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Garrison in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region opened its barracks to the public for two days starting on Saturday to celebrate the 27th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.

Shortly after opening on Saturday, a large number of visitors toured the Ngong Shuen Chau, Shek Kong, and Sun Wai—the three barracks that opened their gates to the public.

The residents could visit naval ships, watch helicopter flights, and participate in soldiers' exercises. They could also experience simulated shooting, visit the PLA Hong Kong Garrison Exhibition Center, and enjoy art performances.

Over the 27 years since the PLA was stationed in Hong Kong, they have held 33 open-day activities.

They are currently conducting patrol missions in the waters off Huangyan Dao (Huangyan Island) in the South China Sea.

On the deck, they stood in formation, solemnly taking their Party admission oath and demonstrating their resolve to defend the country's maritime borders and safeguard its maritime rights and interests.

"It is my will to join the Communist Party of China, uphold the Party's program, observe the provisions of the Party Constitution..." the coast guard personnel said loudly.
