The 17th China-Latin America Business Summit jointly organized by China and Nicaragua is expected to promote deeper economic ties between China and Latin America.
More than 80 participants gathered at the event held in Beijing on Tuesday to promote the summit scheduled to take place in Managua, Nicaragua's capital, later this year.
Ren Hongbin, chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Nicaragua's Ambassador to China, Michael Campbell.
The event also featured a promotional session for the second China International Supply Chain Expo.
"As a cornerstone and stabilizer of China-Latin America relations, economic and trade cooperation between China and Latin America has kept expanding in scale, broadening in scope, and rising to higher levels. China-LAC partnership has become a fine example of win-win cooperation," said Sun Xiao, secretary general of China International Chamber of Commerce.
Guests at the event said they believe that by focusing on international economic and business trends, the summit will extensively explore trade and investment policies, market opportunities, and mutually beneficial cooperation within the China-Latin America business community.
"Nicaragua is importing excellent Chinese products. Nicaragua also serves to showcase excellent Chinese products to the rest of the central American region and we hope to be a platform to continue doing this alongside with Chinese companies. This year, Nicaragua is proud to host the 17th China-LAC Business Summit and we are already creating the conditions to welcome many Chinese companies, many Latin American and Caribbean countries' companies into our capital, Managua," said Campbell.
Diplomats and representatives from Latin America and the Caribbean said they also expect to join this year's supply chain expo to deepen cooperation with China.
"Major segments for the smart automobile, clean energy, green agricultural, digital technology, health, life sectors will be featured at the expo, along with an exhibition area for supply chain services. Meanwhile, special forums will be organized, and investment promotions, business matchmaking events and new product launches will also be held," said Lin Shunjie, chairman of China International Exhibition Center Group.
The second China International Supply Chain Expo will be held from November 26 to 30. Lin said Latin American participants are warmly welcomed to join the expo, explore the potential of China-Latin American economic and trade cooperation, and promote exchanges between enterprises.
The first supply chain expo was held from Nov. 28 to Dec. 2, 2023 in Beijing, attracting more than 300 enterprises both at home and from abroad.
