High-level representatives from China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) countries gathered in Weifang City of east China's Shandong Province on Tuesday for the third Ministerial Forum on Agriculture, focusing on green development and cooperation.
The event attracted 290 attendees, including 24 ministers and vice ministers, 13 ambassadors from 25 countries, as well as representatives of agricultural research institutes, enterprises and regional organizations.
The forum creates a platform for agricultural collaboration between China and CELAC countries, focusing on trade, investment, technology, and rural poverty reduction.
Participants expressed optimism that the forum will usher in a new era of diversified, practical, and sustainable agricultural cooperation between China and CELAC countries, ultimately strengthening China-CELAC relations. "Today, we are here to seek common development. In the fields of production and business, we see potential opportunities in investment and other aspects. Our goal is to strengthen cooperation between the two sides, especially regional cooperation with Weifang," said Fernando Vilella, Secretary of Bioeconomy of Argentina.
"We have seen concrete achievements here from the Chinese people in Weifang, and we have seen that as long as you have determination, you also have to have discipline and commitment, and then you combine these with technology, you can achieve significant results, as we have seen here. This is the most important experience we want to bring to Nicaragua, and the Nicaraguan people are also hardworking people. We can learn a lot from China, especially Weifang, which can help our country eliminate poverty," said Edward Jackson Abella, director general of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Institute of Nicaragua.
"We have asked the deputy minister and customs to help us so that Peru can export more products to China. Specifically, there are four categories of products of frozen fruits, fish products, livestock products, and meat. Peru is very interested in exporting these products to the Chinese market and today's talks will be very helpful in achieving this goal," said Angel Manuel Manero Campos, Minister of Agricultural Development and Irrigation of Peru.
