The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Kevin Yeung, will depart for Paris, France, in the evening today (September 3) to cheer for Hong Kong athletes who are participating in the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.

During his stay, Mr Yeung will meet with the Hong Kong, China Delegation in the Olympic Village in Paris and watch various competitions participated by Hong Kong athletes.

During his stay, Mr Yeung will also officiate at the opening ceremony of Hong Kong Design on Stage at Maison&Objet 2024 which is located at the venue, and witness the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency and the Safi Salons Francais ET Internationaux on co-operation between Hong Kong and Paris relating to the field of design. In addition, Mr Yeung will meet with the Executive President of Federation de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, Mr Pascal Morand, as well as local practitioners of the art and design industry and promote collaboration opportunities.

Mr Yeung will depart France for Hong Kong on September 8 noon (Paris time). During his absence, the Under Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Raistlin Lau, will be the Acting Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Correctional officers stop assault on person in custody

​Correctional Officers stopped four remand persons in custody assaulting another remand person in custody at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre today (September 15).

At 9.37am today, four male remand persons in custody aged from 38 to 47 assaulted a 50-year-old male remand person in custody inside a dayroom. Officers at the scene immediately stopped the assailants and called for reinforcement.

During the incident, the victim sustained injuries to his head, chest and arm and was referred to a public hospital for further treatment after receiving examination and treatment at the institution hospital. The assailants did not sustain any injuries.

The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

The five persons in custody were respectively remanded for the offences of trafficking in a dangerous drug, theft, burglary, etc.
