President Xi Jinping met with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store in Beijing on Monday, saying that China is willing to work with Norway to promote the continuous development of friendly cooperation.

Xi asked Store to convey his greetings to King Harald V. He said since the two countries established diplomatic ties 70 years ago, the two peoples have respected, appreciated and learned from each other, forging a valuable friendship.

Furthering China-Norway friendly cooperation complies with the will of the two peoples, the fundamental interests of the two countries, and a global trend of maintaining closer ties among countries to share weal and woe, Xi said.

He noted that today's world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century, which are testing whether the international community can make the right choice.

China will continue to follow the path of peaceful development. By further deepening reform in an all-round way and advancing Chinese modernization, China will inject stability and certainty into a world fraught with changes and turbulence, and create more opportunities for the common development of all countries, Xi said.

Stressing that friendship and cooperation dominated the bilateral relationship between China and Norway in the past 70 years, Xi said that historical experience shows that upholding mutual respect and seeking common ground while shelving differences, including respecting each other's core interests and accommodating each other's major concerns, are vital to maintain the stable and sound development of bilateral relations.

The two countries should apply their respective advantages to expand practical cooperation in environmental protection, energy transformation, maritime shipping, agricultural and fishery products, and electric vehicles, strengthen collaboration in education, science and technology, culture, tourism, and winter sports, and enhance people-to-people exchanges, especially among the youths, Xi said.

China and Norway share broad consensus on maintaining world peace and security, addressing climate change and conserving biodiversity, among other global challenges, said Xi, adding that China is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with Norway based on the United Nations and other multilateral platforms, practice true multilaterism, and promote an equal and orderly multipolar world and universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization.

Store conveyed the cordial greetings from King Harald V to Xi, saying that Norway is one of the first Nordic countries to establish diplomatic relationship with China. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 70 years ago, the two countries have enjoyed good bilateral relations and carried out dialog and cooperation with mutual respect, he noted.

Norway respects China's sovereignty, abides by the one-China principle, and is willing to continue to respect each other's core interests and major concerns with China, and learn from each other for mutual benefit and win-win results, said Store.

Noting that China's development is full of vitality and holds a great deal of successful experience worth learning from, Store said that Norway looks forward to expanding cooperation with China in fields of green development, climate change, maritime shipping, agriculture and fisheries, new energy vehicles and artificial intelligence.

Store also said that China plays a vital role in addressing global challenges and dealing with major international issues concerning world peace and security.

Norway supports free trade, stands ready to enhance communication and cooperation with China within multilateral frameworks including the G20, and supports closer cooperation between Europe and China, said Store.

The two sides also exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis and other hotspot issues.

Xi underscored that China encourages and supports all efforts conducive to the peaceful settlement of the Ukraine crisis, and will continue to promote peace talks and play a constructive role in advancing the political settlement of the crisis, adding that he hopes all parties can accumulate favorable conditions for the political settlement of the crisis through dialog.

China-chic boom fuels consumption for Mid-Autumn Festival

The rising popularity of Guochao, also known as the trend of "China-chic", has contributed to a consumption boom and more diversified consumption scenarios ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

China-chic refers to fashion trends native to China, which incorporates unique native cultural elements into the latest trends.

For this year's Mid-Autumn Festival, the brand-new event "The Empress's Mid-Autumn Feast" at the Mingtang Tiantang Scenic Area in the National Archaeological Site Park of Sui-Tang Luoyang City in central China's Henan Province has attracted many visitors.

Through interactive experiences such as the performance of court music and dance, and the Empress Wu Zetian bestowing incense, it recreated the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations in the Tang Dynasty (618-907) palace, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere of the holiday.

The "Hanfu craze" in Luoyang City has led to an increase in the number of tourists visiting scenic spots and has extended the overall economic chain. This trend has boosted the popularity of services such as Hanfu rental, makeup and styling, and professional photography, making them widely popular.

In Luoyang's Luanchuan County, activities such as the "Fairy Palace Moon Viewing Party" at the peak of the Laojun Mountain, which stands over 2,000 meters above sea level, have driven a surge in business for the Hanfu stores at the mountain's summit, leading to a peak in consumer activity.

"This year's Mid-Autumn Festival is witnessing an increase of over 50 percent in Hanfu rentals and sales, as well as travel photography services, compared with the same period last year. With such beautiful scenery as a backdrop, the demand for traditional China-chic consumption remains strong," said Jin Ge, owner of a Hanfu store atop the Laojun Mountain.

Driven by the rise of China-chic, creative cultural products are continuously updated with new offerings.

At a glazed glass workshop in Zibo City, east China's Shandong, skilled workers were busy crafting creative glassworks featuring lively jade rabbits, a symbol of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

As soon as the products hit the market, they quickly became popular both online and offline.

"While inheriting tradition, we've been exploring something new, developing creative products that better meet current market demands, thus winning the favor of a wide range of consumers," said Liu Jianhua, deputy general manager of Xiye Workshop.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese lunar calendar, is a cherished occasion for family reunions in China. It falls on September 17 this year.
