Chinese embassies and consulates in several Latin American countries and the U.S. held National Day receptions to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, with government officials, social celebrities and everyday people attending the events and wishing for the healthy development of relations with China.

The Chinese Embassy in Mexico held a reception last Thursday to celebrate the National Day holiday. About 450 people attended the reception, including high-ranking Mexican government officials, overseas Chinese, and representatives of Chinese-funded institutions.

The guests sent their best wishes to the China-Mexico relations and enjoyed a series of Chinese theatrical performances.

"I firmly believe that Mexico will further strengthen its relations with the government and people of the People's Republic of China in terms of friendship, trade relations and cultural exchanges. I wish the Chinese people good health. Long live the People's Republic of China. Long live the friendship between the peoples of Mexico and China," said Mexican Senate President Jose Gerardo Fernandez.

The Chinese Embassy in the Dominican Republic held a Chinese National Day reception last Friday, with nearly 1,500 officials and representatives in attendance.

Members of the China National Symphony Orchestra and other professional art groups staged wonderful performances in a warm and grand atmosphere.

"The relations between the People's Republic of China and the Dominican Republic are developing in the best possible way. There are bonds and mutual support and cooperation between the two peoples and the two governments," said Franklin Garcia Fermin, Dominican Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology.

"China is a very important partner of the Dominican Republic. China is a permanent member of the UN Security Council and the world's second largest economy. China has a vast market, and the Dominican Republic will benefit from it. This is conducive to exchanges and mutual benefit between the two governments and peoples," said Miguel Mejia, Dominican Minister Minister of Policies for Regional Integration.

The National Day reception held by the Chinese Embassy in Argentina last Friday attracted more than 600 officials and representatives, including the Argentine defense minister Luis Petri and the country's foreign minister, Diana Mondino.

"Argentina has maintained friendly relations with China for many years. We hope that this friendly relationship can remain the same or even better than before," said Mondino.

The Chinese Consul General in San Francisco held a National Day reception last Thursday, with about 500 guests from all walks of life attending the event.

California Governor Gavin Newsom and San Francisco Mayor London Nicole Breed sent congratulatory letters to the event, and the guests spoke positively of the achievements of cooperation and exchanges between California and China and wished for the healthy and stable development of China-U.S. relations.

"It is a good time of the year, as a matter of fact. And believe me, the relationship, which has been sheltered and cultivated for the last 45 or so years between San Francisco and Shanghai as sister cities, plus the combination of all the other cities that we have managed to visit have gone on the sister city relations," said Willie Brown, former San Francisco mayor.
