Chinese embassies in various countries have been hosting reception events to celebrate the upcoming 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, which falls on Oct 1.

On last Friday, the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the government held a grand rally at the Revolution Palace in Havana, the country's capital, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

The event was attended by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, who is also the First Secretary of the PCC Central Committee, Esteban Lazo Hernandez, president of Cuba's National Assembly of People's Power, representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Cuba, and other international friends from all walks of life.

"China is committed to building a community with a shared future for mankind and contributing peaceful solutions to building a more inclusive and sustainable international order in the face of conflicts and hegemonic threats. Cuba is proud to be the first country in the Western hemisphere and Latin America and the Caribbean to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China," said Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz.

On the same day, the Chinese Embassy in Russia held a reception to mark the Chinese National Day and concurrently the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia.

The guests praised China's development achievements and looked forward to the continuous advancement of China-Russia relations to a new level.

"Whether it is the path [China] has taken or the amazing development achievements [China has made], overcoming absolute poverty, promoting reform and opening up, improving living standards, and implementing global projects, these are inseparable from the unremitting efforts of all Chinese people and the Communist Party of China and its leader, Chinese President Xi Jinping," said Ivan Ivanovich Melnikov, Russia's First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma.

Local officials and representatives also spoke highly of China's development achievements and China-Zambia partnership as they attended the National Day reception held by Chinese Embassy in Zambia on last Thursday.

"Zambia and China has nurtured a partnership built on mutual respect, cooperation, and shared goals of freedom as well as prosperity for all," said Zambian Vice President Mutale Nalumango.

The Chinese Embassy in Bulgaria held the reception event last Friday to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China as well as 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, with guests expressing their expectations to deepen bilateral friendly exchanges and work closely under the Belt and Road Initiative.

"I hope we can continue to promote cultural exchanges between the Bulgarian and Chinese people, learn from the excellent achievements of the long history and culture of our two countries, and find answers from the wisdom of history and civilization," said Bulgarian Vice President Iliana Iotova.

At the reception held at the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar last Friday to celebrate the Chinese National Day, officials and representatives from both sides also enjoyed a variety of artistic performances in a carefully decorated venue.

Prolonged conflict deals heavy blow to Sudan's oil industry

2024-09-30 15:29 Last Updated At:15:37

The prolonged conflict in Sudan has dealt a severe blow to the country's oil industry, resulting in the closure of some refineries and widespread shortages of gas and diesel in many areas.

Oil production in Sudan has significantly declined since the conflicts broke out over a year ago with the destruction of oil refinery facilities and a brain drain in the sector as many professionals seek employment outside of the country.

"Part of the losses, in addition to the facilities and the production and the data, the people, the executive people that are accumulating experience for the technical and administration people that are working in oil and gas, obviously, and downstream and midstream -- we may lose most of them, because most of them now move outside Sudan, and they look for jobs outside," said Ayman Abu Al-Goukh, a Sudanese oil industry expert.

Gas and diesel shortages that began in Sudan in the second half of last year have led to the closure of many gas stations and a threefold increase in prices.

The shortages have also resulted in power outages across the country, with a majority of areas now facing power cuts lasting several hours each day.
