Hospital Authority Celebrates 75th Anniversary of the People's Republic of China with Flag-Raising Ceremony

Hospital Authority holds flag-raising ceremony to celebrate 75th anniversary of founding of People's Republic of China

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The Hospital Authority (HA) held a flag-raising ceremony in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China today (October 1).

The ceremony was held at the Hospital Authority Building at 10.30am. The national flag was hoisted along with the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) flag to a rendition of the national anthem. Participants expressed their wishes for the prosperity, stability and peace of the motherland.

About 170 guests attended the ceremony, including the Director-General, the Coordination Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, Mr Zhu Wen; the Permanent Secretary for Health, Mr Thomas Chan; the Director of Health, Dr Ronald Lam; the Chairman of the HA, Mr Henry Fan; the Chief Executive of the HA, Dr Tony Ko; members of the HA Board and Hospital Governing Committees, as well as senior executives of HA Head Office, clusters and hospitals.

Mr Fan said, "This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. We are profoundly proud of the remarkable development and world-renowned achievements of the motherland throughout the years. With the unique strengths under 'one country, two systems', Hong Kong has maintained its prosperity, stability and development. As the major public healthcare service provider in Hong Kong, the HA will continue to fully support the HKSAR Government's administration and is committed to safeguarding the health of the community. The HA will also continue to enhance co-operation and exchanges with relevant professional institutions in different cities on the Mainland to deepen collaboration in the healthcare and medical field, and to jointly promote the development of medical services."

Working Group on Patriotic Education launches TV API

The Working Group on Patriotic Education (WGPE) under the Constitution and Basic Law Promotion Steering Committee today (October 1) launched a new government TV Announcement in the Public Interest (API) to further promote the message of "Love our Country, Love Hong Kong, Love our Community".

The Convenor of the WGPE, Ms Starry Lee, said, "The one-minute API makes use of the theme song of patriotic education 'Our Home', and features national achievements as well as citizens' heartwarming clips and inspirational moments. We hope it can reach out to different walks of life and age groups in the society, and subtly instil stronger feeling of 'Love our Country, Love Hong Kong, Love our Community'".

The API presents many touching moments, including national achievements in aerospace and science and technology, families helping and loving each other, hard-working young people, perseverance of Hong Kong athletes, and disciplined force personnel providing emergency services. All these scenes depict deep love and affection for our home.

The API will be broadcast on various TV channels starting from today, and will be uploaded to the Information Services Department's website at www.isd.gov.hk/eng/tvapi/24_ms345.html and its YouTube channel at youtu.be/o89noH3jt70.

In addition, USB devices containing the karaoke version of "Our Home" and folders with messages of loving our country, Hong Kong and our community, which are produced by the WGPE, will be sent to primary and secondary schools and students respectively starting from early October, so that patriotic education can be better integrated across campuses and into students' daily studies and lives in an interesting and diversified manner.
