Dazzling light and drone shows and splendid firework displays illuminated the night skies over many Chinese cities on Tuesday in celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China.

In Guangzhou, capital city of south China's Guangdong Province, many buildings along the Zhujiang River, including the iconic Guangzhou Tower, were lit up with different colors at night, adding to the festive atmosphere.

"So many National Day elements appear on landmark buildings in Guangzhou, giving us a festive vibe. While enjoying the prosperity of our country, we should always remember its history," said a local resident.

Nearly 1,000 drones presented a splendid show over the Nanbei Lake scenic area in Haiyan County, east China's Zhejiang Province by changing their formations to form various patterns in the night sky. The scenic area also launched a night tour program to offer tourists a special traveling experience during the holiday.

"I think the light show is very beautiful, making me feel like living in a dream," said a tourist named Song Ziyu.

Linyi City in east China's Shandong Province initiated a nighttime boat cruise on the city's Yihe River, allowing tourists to admire the beautiful scenery on the riverside.

During the cruise, brilliant light shows combining local cultural and National Day elements as well as attractive live drama performances immersed the boat riders in the city's long history and charming legacies.

"The whole boat ride is at a comfortable speed with the lights changing at different places and matching perfectly with surrounding buildings. I feel like being in a painting," said a tourist named Gao Tianxiang.

An electric night concert took place on Tuesday at the Mingshashan and Crescent Lake, an oasis scenic spot in the Gobi Desert, in Dunhuang City of northwest China's Gansu Province.

A 600-square-meter giant national flag slowly moved up the sand slope with the support of thousands of tourists from all over the country, marking the beginning of the concert.

Then the concert attendees either held high glow sticks or turned on the flashlights of their cellphones to jointly create a "starry sea" in the desert and sang patriotic songs to send their blessings to the motherland.

"Today, I feel like the whole slope is full of people. They are all very excited," said a tourist named Sun Mengqi.

Similar activities were also held in Nanchang City of east China's Jiangxi Province, in Yibin City of southwest China's Sichuan Province, in Anlu City of central China's Hubei Province, and in Handan City of north China's Hebei Province, igniting people's passion for traveling during the holiday.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions also held grand firework shows on Tuesday night to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Local youngsters and tourists from other parts of the country sang patriotic songs together to show their love and pride in the country's remarkable achievements in the past decades.

Macao has been emerging as a global hub for conventions and exhibitions in recent years by exploring the enormous opportunities in the sector, driving the region to advance its economic diversification and embrace a brighter future.

Macao has received many awards this year, such as the Best Convention City (Asia) and the Best BT-MICE City, showcasing the recognition for and influence of Macao's exhibition industry.

More than 1,000 electronic game enthusiasts from all over the world gathered recently in Macao to participate in a esports themed event.

Su Zhili, organizer of the event, said that Macao's rich experience in hosting large-scale events, coupled with its good infrastructure, has driven him to choose the region as an ideal destination to hold such an activity.

"Macao has held many similar large-scale events. It has rich experience, and the facilities at the venue are relatively mature, so we can start our work comfortably," said Su.

During the first three quarters of 2024, Macao held more than 1,000 conferences and exhibitions in total.

"We will invite more professional, special conferences to be held in Macao and also cultivate more exhibition brands with international influence in Macao, so as to promote Macao's exhibitions to be more market-oriented, professional, international, digital and greener from various aspects. This is our goal," said Elaine Wong, member of the Macao Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute.

In addition, multiple large exhibitions and conferences, such as the Macao International Trade and Investment fair, the Macao Franchise Expo, and the International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum, are held regularly in Macao.

With the introduction of a series of policies and measures to facilitate the exchanges between the mainland and Macao, as well as the construction and development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, Macao's convention and exhibition industry will embrace more opportunities for development in the foreseeable future.

"We have such a good industrial base in the Greater Bay Area. The mode of 'Convention and Exhibition + Industry' not only integrates the industries of Macao, but also the industries of the Greater Bay Area. In addition, Macao actively integrates into the national development and plays a role in the Belt and Road. Why are we so confident in Macao's convention and exhibition sector? Because it is backed by the motherland, and the country gives Macao great support," said Alan Ho, chairman of the Macao Association of Convention, Exhibition and Tourism Sectors.
