China on Thursday condemned the terrorist attack at a key defense facility in Ankara, the capital of Türkiye, a day earlier, which left five people dead and 22 others injured.

"China firmly opposes all forms of terrorism. We mourn for the victims and extend our sympathies to the injured. Türkiye is a friendly country to China and we hope it remains safe and stable," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lin Jian said at a press conference in Beijing.

The attack targeted the production facility of Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAS) in the Kahramankazan District of Ankara, where explosions and gunfire were reported.

TUSAS is a crucial defense and aviation company in the country, known for projects like KAAN, Türkiye's first national combat aircraft, among other defense initiatives.

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated that the two attackers, a man and a woman, were killed.

Although no group has claimed responsibility, Turkish authorities suggest the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) is likely responsible.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the United States, and the European Union, has claimed responsibility for similar actions in the past, and it has rebelled against the Turkish government for more than three decades.
