A German company present at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) for seven consecutive times unveiled its knock-out product at the current edition in Shanghai, demonstrating its deep-seated resolve and confidence in the Chinese market.
Kärcher, a company specializing in cleaning technology, has participated in the CIIE for seven consecutive years, using the platform to expand its market presence in China. This year, the company is showcasing a new cleaning robot that can automatically identify and avoid obstacles within a 20-meter range.
Having entered the Chinese market more than two decades ago, Kärcher has continuously invested in China, including the establishment of a research and development center in Suzhou City, which has developed locally designed and tailored products.
"I think it fits quite well to the Chinese market because usually in China people live in an apartment or maybe they have a smaller garden backyard and you cannot use a huge high-pressure washer," said Marco Cardinale, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Kärcher.
Kärcher sees the CIIE as an important platform bridgeable to the Chinese market. Over the years, the company has not only promoted its products at the expo but has also sought potential business partners. The Chinese partner for this year's new product was one the company met at a previous expo.
"From the one so to say, from 2018, each time we participated, and we will also continue to participate. I think the value of the CIIE is far as very obvious because it's a deep platform for global companies like us to showcase our products, our innovations to Chinese consumers but also to the sales partners. And of course, you also get a good feeling about the competition in China and what are the latest trends in technologies, but also in the market. And I would also say it's a great opportunity to network with different companies, bringing together different capabilities, technologies that will also help us in the future to maybe generate more innovations," said Cardinale.
Themed "New Era, Shared Future", the 7th CIIE opened at 10:00 Tuesday in Shanghai. A total of 3,496 exhibitors from 129 countries and regions have signed up to participate in the CIIE this year, with both numbers exceeding those of the previous session. The participants include 297 Fortune 500 companies and other industry leaders, setting a historical high. A total of 186 companies and institutions have participated in all seven sessions.
