A lovely mother-daughter pair, Rui Rui and Rui Ruizai recently was spotted enjoying a leisure bamboo shoots feast at their home at the Shenshuping base of the China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Pandas (CCRCGP) in the Wolong National Nature Reserve.
Rui Rui was born in September 2017 and she gave birth to Rui Ruizai in 2023.
Together with them is Xian Xianzai, a naughty boy whose mother is Xian Xian. Xian Xianzai spends lots of time with his dear auntie Rui Rui.
Xian Xian earned her fame in 2016 as she starred in a popular documentary "Born in China". Back then, she was just a two-year-old chubby cub.
The CCRCGP stands as a beacon of hope for these iconic creatures, boasting the world's largest population of artificially bred giant pandas. Pioneering groundbreaking research in artificial breeding and training for the wilderness survival of these gentle giants, the center serves as a global hub for collaborative efforts. With partnerships spanning 18 zoos across 16 countries and regions, 39 domestic animal breeding institutions, and over 10 research institutes, the center's dedication to panda preservation knows no bounds, ensuring a brighter future for these beloved bears.
Panda paradise: embracing tranquil joy of bamboo, family time
As two major powers in the world, China and the United State should respect each other and work together for win-win results, said a Brazilian scholar in an interview.
Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday met with U.S. President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the 31st APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in the Peruvian capital Lima, where the Chinese leader pointed out that "when the two countries treat each other as a partner and friend, seek common ground while shelving differences and help each other succeed, the China-U.S. relationship would make considerable progress."
The two sides agreed the meeting was candid, profound and constructive, and they expressed willingness to stay in contact.
The two presidents spoke positively about the important role of China-U.S. strategic communication, regular contact between the diplomatic and security teams, and dialogue mechanism on military-to-military relations, economic and trade ties, as well as financial issues.
Breno Biavanni Adaid Castro, a Business Management professor at the Higher Education Institute of Brasilia, shared his insights on the Chinese and U.S. leaders' meeting, during an interview with China Global Television Network (CGTN).
Castro said China and the U.S. are both world powers and if the two countries can further strengthen trade cooperation, it will be conducive for all other countries seeking trade with them.
"China and the U.S. are the biggest countries in the global market. So, if they are looking to improve and stimulate free commerce, it's good for all the other countries that are looking to do business with them. We are talking about two huge countries with huge economic power. So, probably they are going to be really respectful with each other. So, in points of disagreement, they probably are going to look for peaceful solutions. They are probably looking to talk to each other to solve these disagreements in a peaceful way because any disturbance in this economic relationship has a huge impact globally," said the Brazilian scholar.
As two major economic powers, China and the U.S. should respect each other and seek peaceful consultation to create new opportunities for cooperation and development in the face of differences, he said.
Castro particularly mentioned that the two major powers are promoting the use of sustainable clean energy, which will help boost world economic growth.
"China has evolved from a coal-obtaining energy to more sustainable clean energy. So, it's clear that it's important for them to have other countries that are dealing with them, that are using the same energy. Because if you think globally, they are promoting a more clean environment, they are promoting new ways of obtaining energy. And as we know the development of an economy is highly correlated with the amount of energy a country can obtain and can use. Talking numbers, the more energy a country has, the more its economy develops. It's interesting for them, the other countries are obtaining and implementing new ways of creating and obtaining energy to improve their economic growth," said Castro.
