Alashankou, a major land port in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, has registered one million tons in freight volume this year on Saturday.

It's the first time for the port to handle over one million tons in terms of the annual cargo volume.

Also known as Alataw Pass, Alashankou is a crucial hub connecting China with Central Asia and Europe, where food, automobiles, accessories, minerals, and other goods are transported.

In the first 10 months of this year, the customs at the port supervised a total of 104,000 international freight vehicles entering and exiting the port.

China has spearheaded the launch of the world's first requirements for contactless cold chain delivery services, aiming to strengthen hygiene in the global moving of food and other goods that require constant refrigeration.

According to China's market regulatory authorities, the document specifies requirements for refrigerated delivery service providers to deliver goods directly from refrigerated storage areas at distribution centers to recipients while minimizing or eliminating human contact with the goods.

The introduction of the requirements is expected to provide crucial technical guidance for global cold chain operations and foster broader standardization in the industry globally.

Specialists from around the world, including Japan, France, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Germany, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore, collaborated with Chinese experts to develop the requirements, drawing on insights from global cold chain logistics companies, associations, research institutes, and universities.
