Chinese state broadcaster China Media Group (CMG) showcases its ingenious technological innovations at the third Global Media Congress, which kicked off in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday.
During the event, CMG presents multiple artificial intelligence-assisted products and services, as well as 8K Ultra High Definition equipment.
One of them is a large language model (LLM) focusing on media content production, which marks the first time that the technology was displayed in the Middle East. In addition, the broadcaster displays AI-assisted animations at the event.
At its exhibition booth, a try-on tool has been set up, allowing visitors to virtually try Chinese-style outfits and makeup in settings inspired by scenic spots in China. The service is launched to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and UAE.
Also, CMG displays a multilingual video translator which can ensure the perfect matching of characters' mouth shapes and emotions in different language environments.
On the day, CMG's exhibition booth welcomed many guests, including H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, deputy chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs, Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, chairman of UAE's National Media Office, Nasser Muhaisen, the undersecretary of Kuwait's Ministry of Information and Zhang Yiming, China's ambassador to UAE.
They praised the latest technological innovations and applications displayed by CMG, expressing hopes on the media cooperation between China and the UAE.
"I think today's exhibition has further spotlighted CMG's achievements in artificial intelligence and some of the most advanced media versatilities. I think this also reflects the open, cooperative and confident attitude of Chinese media. So I hope that in the future, the two countries' media can deepen all-round cooperation through the platform of the Global Media Congress, and tell the stories of China and the UAE well, so as to enhance the people-to-people bond between China, the UAE and Arab countries," said Zhang Yiming, China's ambassador to UAE.
"I am impressed by CMG's exhibition booth. There are many advanced technology applications, such as the 8K ultra-high-definition camera, which is small, lightweight and ultra-clear. There are also many media applications in the field of AI, such as multilingual translation technology, which can translate from Arabic into Chinese and English. There is no doubt that these technologies will help the development of news agencies and other media from different countries," said Nasser Muhaisen, the undersecretary of Kuwait's Ministry of Information.
This year's Global Media Congress, themed "Shaping Future Media", includes discussions, exhibitions and workshops, with a focus on three major topics -- The Business of Media, Content is King and Digital Disruption. It attracts government officials, media professionals, businesspeople and experts and scholars from 172 countries and regions to participate.
Organized by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC) Group and the Emirates News Agency, the event runs through Thursday.
