Panchen Rinpoche concludes tour in Xizang

Panchen Erdeni Chos-kyi rGyal-po on Nov 26 completed a tour of southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region lasting five months, during which he performed regular duties, Buddhist rituals and social activities.

Panchen Erdeni Chos-kyi rGyal-po, more commonly known as Panchen Rinpoche, flew to the regional capital Lhasa from northwest China's Qinghai Province on June 25.

From June 27 to Sept 9, Panchen Rinpoche performed his duties as the president of the Xizang branch of the Buddhist Association of China, and carried out Buddhist rituals and social activities in the cities of Lhasa, Nagqu and Nyingchi.

From Sept 11 to Nov 25, Panchen Rinpoche carried out a series of Buddhist rituals and social activities in the city of Xigaze, and presided over a meeting of the council of the Xizang branch of the Buddhist Association of China.

During his five-month tour in Xizang, Panchen Rinpoche performed head-touching rituals for nearly 70,000 monks and believers.

Panchen Rinpoche is a member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the country's top political advisory body. He is also vice president of the Buddhist Association of China.

The Palestinian death toll from the ongoing Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip has risen to 44,502, with 105,454 others injured, Gaza-based health authorities said in a statement released on Tuesday.

Over the previous 24 hours, Israeli military operations in Gaza led to 36 deaths and 96 injuries, according to the statement.

According to media reports, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that the Israeli forces conducted a series of attacks in central Gaza Strips on Tuesday, killing several Hamas militants. The Israeli military also attacked the Netzarim Corridor, which separates Gaza into northern and southern zones, targeting buildings used by Hamas.

Multiple media reports also said on Tuesday that the Israeli forces launched an airstrike on a school in Gaza City in the northern Gaza Strip, causing multiple casualties including women and children.

On Tuesday, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, released a video showing its fighters launching attacks on Israeli soldiers and other targets in the Gaza Strip.
