Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese president, met with Chairman of the United Russia party Dmitry Medvedev in Beijing on Thursday.
Nothing that over the 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, Xi said that the two countries have jointly forged a new path of mutual respect, harmonious coexistence, and win-win cooperation as major neighboring powers. This has set an example of a new type of international relations and relations between major neighboring countries, he added.
China stands ready to strengthen the alignment of development strategies with Russia, tap into the internal drive of bilateral cooperation, and continuously bring benefits to both countries and peoples, Xi said.
Stressing that China and Russia should enhance communication and collaboration within multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations, the BRICS cooperation mechanism, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Xi said that both countries should resolutely uphold the international system with the United Nations at its core, practice true multilateralism, promote the evolution of the international order toward greater fairness and justice, and jointly safeguard global strategic stability and international equity and justice.
Over the past 20 years since the Communist Party of China established relations with the United Russia party, the two parties have carried out high-level and constructive interactions, strengthened exchanges and mutual learning of experience in Party and country governance, continuously enriched the connotation of institutionalized exchanges between the two parties, and continued to consolidate political and strategic mutual trust between China and Russia, Xi said.
Stressing that the two parties are important forces driving human progress, Xi said that it is needed for them to further enhance coordination and collaboration, guide global governance in the right direction, build consensus among friendly political parties worldwide, especially those in the Global South countries, and promote the development of the world in a positive direction.
On the Ukraine crisis, Xi said that China has repeatedly emphasized adherence to three principles of "no expansion of the battlefield, no escalation of fighting, and no provocation by any third party" so as to strive for swift deescalation of the situation.
China will continue to uphold its consistent stance and work with the international community to create favorable conditions for the political resolution of the crisis, Xi added.
Medvedev delivered a personal letter from President Vladimir Putin to President Xi, and expressed his pleasure to visit China again on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and China.
Medvedev also noted that Russia will unwaveringly implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state and advance strategic cooperation.
Noting that the United Russia party's exchange and cooperation with the Communist Party of China bears a special responsibility in the relations between Russia and China, Medvedev said that the United Russia party is willing to use the Russia-China dialogue mechanism between ruling parties to promote practical cooperation and youth exchanges between the two sides, strengthen education on traditional values such as patriotism, and promote the long-term development of bilateral relations.
Russia speaks highly of China's stance on the Ukraine crisis and expresses interest in the Group of Friends for Peace on the Ukraine crisis proposed by China, Brazil, and some other countries, and is willing to actively promote a political solution to the Ukraine crisis, Medvedev added.
