China welcomes friends from all countries to visit China and to experience the diverse and popular cultural products, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a press briefing in Beijing on Wednesday.
Last week, Chinese video game "Black Myth: Wukong" secured many nominations at The Game Awards (TGA), and won the "Best Action Game" and the "Player's Voice," marking a significant milestone in Chinese gaming history with this unprecedented achievement.
During a regular press briefing, Lin congratulated the game on winning the prizes.
"Congratulations to the 'Black Myth: Wukong' for winning the awards. It is delightful to see 'Journey to the West', a Chinese mythological novel from over 400 years ago, shining brightly with the help of digital technology and winning over gamers worldwide," said Lin.
"As Eastern aesthetics meet modern technology and traditional culture integrates with emerging industries, we see that Chinese 'phenomenal IP dramas' being popular in Thailand, Japan, the United States, and other places, leading overseas viewers to eagerly anticipate updates. Chinese online literary works being included in the Chinese collection of the British Library leave readers from various countries thoroughly satisfied. Chinese games going viral across the internet, providing a gateway for all to delve into traditional Chinese culture, stirring emotional connections among global gamers, and sparking reciprocal cultural exchanges between civilizations," said Lin.
The influence of "Chinese style" is spreading globally, Lin said, which has drawn foreign friends closer to China.
Many foreign friends are "traveling through China with Sun Wukong," visiting ancient Chinese architecture like the Jade Emperor Temple in Jincheng, the Wooden Pagoda in Ying County, the Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou, and the Dazu Rock Carvings in Chongqing. They are immersing themselves in the tales of Shaanxi's storytellers, retracing the path of the "Journey to the West," and exploring their own version of the "Destined Ones," Lin said.
"We welcome friends from all countries to visit China, to personally experience the diverse cultural products that have broken boundaries, to tangibly feel the brilliance of our culture, and to embark on their own 'Eastern adventure'," said Lin.
