Jilin City in northeast China's Jilin Province has commenced the construction of a world-class super ski resort this year within a local pilot zone dedicated to the high-quality development of the ice and snow economy. The resort will provide visitors with a seamless experience, featuring a single pass for all attractions.
Spanning over 1,300 square kilometers and established in 2021, the zone aims to create a unified skiing experience by connecting several new ski resorts and snow play parks, each featuring unique themes and designs, between the two major resorts - Lake Songhua Resort and Vanke Songhua Lake Resort. These parks will be seamlessly linked through electronic fences and positioning technology, ensuring a smooth and integrated experience for visitors.
"Between the two resorts, there are mountains of varying elevations, directly connected by a straight-line distance of 30 kilometers. The areas between the resorts possess the ideal mountainous resources for ski resorts, enabling them to be linked into a single zone that enhances the comparative advantages of the existing resorts. By leveraging digital technology, skiers will be able to enjoy a seamless experience with a single pass," said Yu Yueyang, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the pilot zone.
In a newly released document on promoting the high-quality development of the ice and snow economy in Jilin province, local authorities have pledged to boost support for ice and snow consumption, encourage ski resorts to integrate resources, and gradually introduce integrated ticketing and skiing options.
Jilin City, for example, plans to have the super ski resort fully developed by 2035, featuring a total ski trail area of 1,890 hectares and a total length of 586 kilometers. The resort is expected to accommodate 10 million tourists annually and will stimulate the growth of nearby smaller ski resorts, fostering the integrated and collaborative development of regional ice and snow resources.
