Russia said on Friday that its forces carried out seven group strikes with high-precision weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on Ukraine's energy facilities over the past week, while Ukraine, on the same day, reported striking Russia's major oil refinery in Volgograd.
The Russian strike resulted in the destruction of critical energy facilities that ensure the operation of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The Russian forces also damaged various Ukrainian facilities including military airfields, assemble and storage sites for fixed-wing drones and unmanned boats, as well as temporary deployment points for Ukrainian troops, the Russian Defense Ministry said in the report.
From Jan. 25 to 31, Russian air defense systems shot down two French-made Hammer guided aerial bombs, 31 U.S.-made HIMARS multiple launch rockets, and 592 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles, the ministry said.
Ukraine's General Staff of the Armed Forces claimed on Friday that Ukrainian forces hit an oil refinery in Russia's southern Volgograd region in the wee hours of the day, leading to fires and explosions.
The Lukoil-Volgograd oil refinery is a key fuel supply site for Russian forces, the Ukrainian side said.
