Visiting Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang met Grand Duke of Luxembourg Henri, President of Parliament Claude Wiseler, Prime Minister Luc Frieden and Vice Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, respectively, and addressed the second Zhengzhou-Luxembourg "Air Silk Road" Forum for International Cooperation during his visit to the European country from Thursday to Friday.

Ding, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, conveyed Chinese President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings and best wishes to Grand Duke Henri.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Luxembourg 50 years ago, both sides have adhered to mutual respect and trust, setting an example of mutually beneficial cooperation between countries of different sizes, said Ding.

When meeting with leaders of Luxembourg, Ding said China stands ready to work with Luxembourg to implement the important consensus reached by President Xi and Luxembourg's leaders, remains committed to open cooperation and further complementing each other's strengths, so as to achieve higher-level and broader win-win cooperation and better benefit the two peoples.

According to Ding, China hopes and believes that Luxembourg will continue to adhere to the one-China principle and well maintain the political foundation of bilateral relations.

Ding called on China and the European Union (EU) to see each other as partners, stay focused on cooperation and deep communication, and manage their differences, expressing China's hope that Luxembourg will play a positive role in promoting the steady and sound development of China-EU relations.

Grand Duke Henri asked Ding to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi.

Leaders of Luxembourg said that the two countries have enjoyed a long history of friendship as well as sound momentum in bilateral cooperation.

They said that Luxembourg will continue to uphold a friendly policy towards China, and adhere to the one-China principle, adding that their country is ready to deepen cooperation with China in the electric vehicle sector to jointly promote green and low-carbon transformation.

The Luxembourg side firmly supports multilateralism and free trade, opposes protectionism in any form and is glad to actively promote dialogue and communication between the EU and China, according to the leaders.

On Thursday, Ding and Bettel attended the second Zhengzhou-Luxembourg "Air Silk Road" Forum for International Cooperation.

Ding said that this year's forum is a practical move to implement the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries to deepen the Belt and Road cooperation.

He called for bilateral efforts to uphold the Silk Road spirit, jointly build a more efficient aviation transportation system, forge closer economic and trade cooperation, and develop diverse and interactive cultural exchanges to boost the high-quality development of the "Air Silk Road."

China welcomes active participation of all countries, including Luxembourg, in the Chinese modernization process to achieve shared development and prosperity, according to the Chinese vice premier.

For his part, Bettel said his country stands ready to take this forum as an opportunity to closely cooperate with China in various fields under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

During Ding's visit to Luxembourg, he also visited the headquarters of Cargolux Airlines International, the science city in Belval, representatives of teachers and students from Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg.

Ding wrapped up his visit to Luxembourg on Friday.
