Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng, also Permanent Observer to the Organization of American States (OAS), elaborated China's concepts of forging a new type of international relations at a gathering of OAS member countries in Paraguay on Wednesday.

Xie led a Chinese government delegation to attend the 54th Regular Session of the OAS General Assembly in Asuncion, capital of Paraguay, and delivered a speech at the Dialogue with Permanent Observers, elaborating on China's concepts of forging a new type of international relations and building a community with a shared future for mankind in light of the relations between China and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) countries and the theme of the General Assembly.

"Countries, no matter their size and strength, are all equal members of the international community. Global affairs should be discussed by all, and the future of the world should be decided by everyone together," said Xie at the meeting.

Xie said China puts development first, and upholds a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization.

He said developing countries should not be kept forever at the low end of international industrial chains.

"We will continue to follow the principle of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith, pursue the greater good and shared interests, and take further steps to forge a China-LAC community with a shared future," said Xie.

Chinese businesses show enhanced ESC performance in 2024: CMG report

2024-07-01 13:34 Last Updated At:14:07

Chinese listed companies have delivered stronger ESC (environmental, social, and governance) performance in general in 2024, showed a report by China Media Group (CMG) on Sunday.

ESG is a set of key indicators used to measure a company's sustainability and social impact. The "2024 ESG Action Report" released by CMG's Financial Program Center offers insights into the ESG development trends of Chinese businesses based on information gathered from 972 out of the 6,471 firms listed in China's A-share market and in Hong Kong.

It also unveiled the top 100 ESG companies ranking, and provided suggestions for the high-quality development of China's ESG standards system.

The average ESG score of the top 100 companies has risen to 77.4, and 20 companies have been graded with five-star excellence, a significant increase from 2023.

Manufacturers account for half of the "Pioneer 100" companies, showing the Chinese manufacturing sector's emphasis on ESG capabilities guided by the idea of high-quality development.

The country's first service platform for ESG information disclosure was also launched that day.
