Chinese sports equipment featuring smart technology and customized designs will be used in wrestling, judo and table tennis at the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The mats for wrestling and judo are manufactured by Taishan Sport in east China's Shandong Province. Each of the mats contains more than 2,100 microchips that can collect information about the trajectory, force and frequency of the athletes' movements based on the deformation they have made on the mats.
The ping pang tables to be used in the Paris Olympics are manufactured by DHS Sport in Shanghai. The tables are designed in black and pink, corresponding to the basic color tone of the Paris Olympic Games. The three-dimensional markings on four sides of the table are smoothed to prevent abrasion during matches.
Chinese sponsorship of the Paris Olympics also includes table tennis balls, weightlifting barbells, flooring and other equipment.
Some manufacturers have seen growth in their sales. Doublefish, Chinese table tennis ball sponsor for the Paris Olympics, has seen 13 percent export growth this year.
Jean Charles, a dealer of Chinese sports equipment in Paris, said his store has prepared to sell the same products as the Olympic champions.
"The Chinese champions will be very well prepared with the best equipment possible. We follow the steps and we have all the equipment already ready for sale. So, everybody who wants to get the same equipment as the Chinese champions, they can come to our shop and make their purchases," he said.
