China's logistics prosperity index edged down 0.2 percentage point month on month to 51.6 percent in June, remaining in the expansionary territory, industry data showed on Tuesday.

Among the sub-indices, the total business volume index and new order index remained in the expansion zone, according to the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing.

By industry, the new order index of road transport, railway transport, air transport, and postal express all stayed in the expansion range.

Driven by online promotion events and demand for fresh goods, the new order index of the postal express industry exceeded 70 percent, and that of the air transport sector stood at 58.7 percent, remaining in a relatively high prosperity range.

A survey of companies showed that new orders for cold-chain flowers, seasonal fruits and vegetables, and fresh food via postal express and air logistics rebounded rapidly in June.

"From January to June, the logistics prosperity index remained in the expansion range for four consecutive months, although there were slight fluctuations. It stayed at an average of 52 percent in the first half of the year, slightly higher than in the same period last year, indicating that the logistics industry has been generally stable and improving since the beginning of this year," said Liu Yuhang, director of the China Logistics Information Center.

"In particular, new business orders in the postal express and air transport sectors grew rapidly, reflecting that logistics demands in these two areas are gradually recovering, which has also led to a slight recovery in the price of logistics services as a whole," said Liu.

In June, the logistics service price index went up 0.2 percentage point from May, with those of railway transport, road transport, water transport and postal express all rebounding.
