      China's non-financial outbound direct investment (ODI) reached 22.97 billion U.S. dollars, up 9.1 percent year on year, said He Yongqian, spokeswoman of the Ministry of Commerce, at a press conference in Beijing on Thursday.

      Specifically, non-financial ODI by Chinese enterprises in partner countries of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) reached 5.52 billion U.S. dollars, marking a year-on-year increase of 17.6 percent, He said.

      From January to February, the turnover of foreign contracted projects totaled 18.34 billion U.S. dollars, and the value of newly signed contracts amounted to 35.34 billion U.S. dollars, increasing by 28.7 percent compared with the same period last year, she said.

      In particular, contracted projects of Chinese enterprises in the BRI partner countries achieved a turnover of 15.06 billion U.S. dollars, and the value of newly signed contracts reached 30.92 billion U.S. dollars, marking a 33.7-percent increase year on year, said the spokeswoman.

      Chinese President Xi Jinping's special envoy Peng Qinghua on Friday attended the inauguration of Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia.

      Peng, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, also met with President Nandi-Ndaitwah to discuss bilateral relations.

      Nandi-Ndaitwah thanked Xi for sending a special envoy to attend her inauguration and asked Peng to convey her cordial greetings to the Chinese president. She spoke highly of Namibia-China relations, thanked China for its long-standing support and assistance to Namibia, and expressed the hope for the deepening of the friendly cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

      Dignitaries and representatives from nearly 30 countries and international and regional organizations attended the inauguration.
