OptiTrack announces line of outdoor motion capture cameras with IP-66 rating, making motion capture possible in more environments than ever before

The Versa X family of cameras supports unrivaled customization. Multiple mounting solutions provide ease in any setup including factories, laboratories and other difficult environments. Versa X also offers user changeable lenses with wide or narrow field of view lens options. To enhance performance further, Versa X provides users with an attachable and detachable ring light and for added outdoor or harsh manufacturing protection, an environmental cover is also available.

“The Versa X series of outdoor cameras introduces OptiTrack’s most adaptable camera and addresses a need in today’s market for more modular, rugged and portable motion capture solutions that are tailored to manufacturing and controlled environments,” said OptiTrack Executive Vice President Stephanie Hines. “Our newest cameras reinforce OptiTrack’s reputation of tracking movement with unprecedented precision, now making the highest quality motion capture possible in more environments than ever before.”

The latest additions to OptiTrack’s portfolio of motion tracking solutions include the Versa X 22 (2.2 megapixels), Versa X 41 (4 megapixels) and Versa X 120 (12 megapixels), providing customers with IP-66 rated versions of the company’s premium Prime X 22, Prime X 41 and Prime X 120 mocap cameras that feature the ultimate combination of industry-leading range and precision.

Each Versa X camera operates with OptiTrack’s Motive motion capture software, enabling customers to track and capture the motion of small retroreflective markers and collect real-time motion data with industry-leading precision. With Versa X ’s durable, modular design, customers also benefit from simple and efficient transport and reconfiguration. This allows users to extend usability across a broad set of projects without additional purchases and helps ensure longevity even with frequent handling without sacrificing quality.

The announcement of Versa X follows OptiTrack’s recent Corvallis, Ore. headquarters and manufacturing expansion. In Fall 2024, OptiTrack unveiled a new 25,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, doubling its production capacity to better meet global demand for high quality 3D tracking solutions. Designed and manufactured in Corvallis, Versa X cameras meet the 3D tracking system leader’s highest benchmarks for durability, precision and performance. The cameras also meet the requirements of the Trade Agreement Act (TAA).

WASHINGTON (AP) — Wayne Gretzky arrived several minutes before puck drop to be in attendance for the Washington Capitals' game against Chicago with Alex Ovechkin two goals from tying and three from breaking the Canadian great's NHL career record.

This marks the start of Gretzky joining the chase in person.

“It’s great," Ovechkin said after his team's morning skate across the river in Arlington, Virginia. "He’s been supportive all the time to me. It’s a fun time right now. We’ll see what’s going to happen, but right now it’s all attention to a hockey game. It’s a pretty cool moment.”

Commissioner Gary Bettman, Ovechkin’s wife, Nastya, and Capitals owner Ted Leonsis were in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Wednesday night. Ovechkin scored his 892nd goal in that game, putting him a hat trick on home ice away from passing Gretzky's mark of 894 that long seemed unapproachable.

NHLPA executive director Marty Walsh also joined in Washington. Gretzky entered the building just before 7 p.m. with his wife, Janet.

“It’s bigger than the game right now,” said winger Tom Wilson, who like Gretzky is from Ontario. "It’s bigger than hockey. It’s the ‘Great One.’ I mean, no one would have ever thought that would happen. The energy around this thing the whole year, it’s been second to none, and it’s been something no one’s ever gone through.”

Not at least in 31 years, since Gretzky passed “Mr. Hockey” Gordie Howe's all-time mark of 801 career goals. Gretzky is accompanying Ovechkin on the approach to 895 like Howe did for him on the way to 802 in 1994.

“The greatest player of all time is coming to follow us for however long it takes, so it’s exciting,” Capitals center Dylan Strome said. "I think Ovi and Gretzky have a pretty good relationship. And obviously the ambassador that he’s been for the game for as many years as he has, he does a ton for hockey and a ton for Canada, so it’s cool.”

The anticipation is building around hockey for what's being billed the “GR8 chase,” and Gretzky being in the building is the latest piece of that.

“It just shows you how close the players are in the game and how much respect there is between both of them,” said retired defenseman Jason Demers, an NHL Network analyst who will also be at the game with “NHL Live” moving on site for the occasion. “Having Wayne be there and support Ovechkin, who’s going to basically break his record and take him out of the record books, I know he’s got 20 or 30 more of them, but it’s just wild to think about the support that guys have for one another, and that’s what makes our sport so great.”
