China will impose additional 34-percent tariffs on all imported U.S. products starting April 10, the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council said on Friday.
On Wednesday, the U.S. government announced "reciprocal tariffs" on exports from China, which is against international trade rules, seriously undermines China's legitimate and lawful rights and interests, and is typical unilateral bullying, according to a statement from the commission.
In accordance with the basic principles of international law, and with Chinese laws and regulations such as the tariff law, the customs law and the foreign trade law, and approved by the State Council, the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council will impose additional 34-percent tariffs on all imported U.S. products starting 12:01 on April 10, the statement said.
Current bonded policies as well as tax reduction and exemption policies will not change, and the latest tariffs to be imposed will not be reduced or exempted, according to the statement.
The latest additional tariffs will be exempted for U.S. products which have been shipped from the port of departure before 12:01 on April 10, and imported from 12:01 on April 10 to 24:00 on May 13, the statement said.
