China's top political advisor Wang Huning met with speaker of the Finnish parliament Jussi Halla-aho in Beijing on Monday to discuss relations between their two countries.
Wang, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said China-Finland relations have enjoyed steady and sound development over the past 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Noting that Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Finnish counterpart Alexander Stubb reached broad consensus on strengthening partnership and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation during the latter's state visit to China last year, Wang said China is ready to work with Finland to follow the guidance of the two heads of state, consolidate political mutual trust, expand practical cooperation and deepen people-to-people exchanges to enrich the future-oriented new-type cooperative partnership between the two countries.
The CPPCC National Committee is willing to contribute to the development of bilateral ties, he added.
Halla-aho said that China, with a long history, is now one of the most dynamic major economies in the world.
Noting that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Finland and China, he said Finland adheres to the one-China policy, and is willing to enhance cooperation with China to boost bilateral relations and Europe-China relations.
The Finnish parliament is ready to make active efforts to promote the development of bilateral relations and jointly address challenges, he added.
