Chinese-manufactured high-standard table tennis balls, tables and associated facilities have arrived and been set up at the venue of Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which will take place from July 26 to Aug 11.

More than 35,000 table tennis balls made by Double Fish Sports Group, a Chinese sporting goods manufacturer based in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, have arrived in France.

As an exclusive supplier of table tennis balls for the Olympic Games in Paris, Double Fish Sports Group has not only updated the production line, but also set up 15 automatic inspection procedures which help select three to five balls out of 100 balls for use in the Olympics.

"According to the International Table Tennis Federation standard, the elasticity tolerance of table tennis balls must be less than 25 mm, while that of our balls to be used in the Paris Olympics is less than 4 mm," said Du Yinhuan, senior engineer with Double Fish. The tables, designed by the renowned Chinese sports equipment maker, the Shanghai-based company Double Happiness, feature a sleek black hue with pink accents and rainbow-shaped curved bases, enhanced by a variable lighting system controlled by embedded chips.

Design elements include three-dimensionally crafted features such as the "Paris 2024" logo and Olympic rings, strategically angled to avoid interference during competition.

Craftsmanship of the table's surface has been optimized to enhance friction and bounce effects through advanced technological processes.

"The table surface is treated with a special polymer, so players feel it's as smooth as ice when they touch it. This should be the latest technology in the entire industry," said Lou Shihe, general manager of Double Happiness.

The table tennis events at the Paris Olympics are scheduled to commence on July 27.

China to further facilitate cross-border financial services in Shanghai

      2025-04-22 06:43 Last Updated At:07:17

China will take more steps to further facilitate cross-border financial services in Shanghai by leveraging the municipality's role as an international financial center, according to a plan jointly issued by the central bank, the Shanghai municipal government and other financial authorities.

The plan outlines 18 key measures including improving cross-border settlement efficiency, strengthening the hedging of foreign exchange risks, and enhancing the insurance sector's services for export companies.

China will further optimize the management and operation of foreign exchange business, and encourage corporate groups to establish fund pools in Shanghai to achieve efficient onshore management and use of global funds.

The country will also support financial institutions to enhance their capacity to provide digital services and improve services for enterprises to expand abroad by leveraging technologies such as blockchain.

Efforts will be made to enhance the functionality and global coverage of the Cross-Border Interbank Payment System and encourage more banks to participate in the system, according to the plan.

The plan underscores the need to develop diversified products and services to hedge against foreign exchange risks, and to promote cross-border use of the Chinese currency renminbi.

According to the plan, China will increase insurance support for key export enterprises such as domestic commercial aircraft and new energy vehicle companies. The plan also encourages collaboration between insurance companies and reinsurance firms to establish insurance consortiums, thereby enhancing their capacity to cover special risks.
