Experts in Vietnam have voiced high expectations for Chinese President Xi Jinping's upcoming state visit to the country, expressing their firm belief that the visit will further promote the development of 75-year-old bilateral ties.
Speaking to China Media Group on Saturday, Nguyen Vinh Quang, deputy chair of the Vietnam-China Friendship Association, pointed out the significance of the visit as this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of China-Vietnam diplomatic relations.
"General Secretary Xi Jinping's visits to Vietnam are always of great significance and we look forward to each of them with great anticipation. But the upcoming visit is even more important because this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China. This visit will also advance China-Vietnam relations into a new phase of development," said Quang.
"The Chinese modernization is a development model of China, but also provides experience for other countries to learn from, which makes China's development model and achievements internationally significant," he added.
Do Thanh Van, head of Vietnam's only Confucius Institute at Hanoi University, said the visit will further strengthen ties between the two countries and their people.
"The Vietnamese people look forward to and welcome President Xi's visit to Vietnam. The visit will further consolidate the good relations between the two countries and their people. We pay special attention to youth development, and hope that the two countries will continue to strengthen support for this, especially for exchanges and cooperation in the fields of education and culture. Developments in these fields will push the youth of the two countries to better carry on and develop the long-standing traditional and friendly relations between the two countries," said Van.
She also expressed the hope that China will continue its rapid development in the future, which will benefit Vietnam and other countries.
"I believe that China has played an important role in building a new development pattern, bringing many development opportunities to countries around the world and that there will also be more and more Chinese companies coming to invest in Vietnam as well, creating more employment and development opportunities for Vietnamese youth, as well as Chinese youth. We are happy to see China's continuous development and believe that China will make even greater development achievements," she added.
Xi will pay a state visit to Vietnam from Monday to Tuesday, at the invitation of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong.
Vietnam will be the first stop of Xi's upcoming state visits to three Southeast Asian countries, with the other two being Malaysia and Cambodia.
