綜合外媒報導，佛羅里達州高速公路巡警沃森（Kenn Watson）表示，一名母親開車載12歲不具名女兒，於當地時間12日上午7時許前往布克中學，在靠近學校轉彎車道停靠，然女童下車時不慎將背包掉落，造成物品四散，接著整個人鑽到汽車底下撿東西，不料母親恰巧驅車離開，突然聽到車底傳來尖叫聲，下車發現女兒部分身體遭汽車輾壓，緊急通報。

遭母揸車輾致身體重傷住院治療
報導提到，女童隨後被送往附近醫院搶救，截至當地時間12日深夜，女童仍命危。

高速公路巡警：呼籲家長應避免在轉彎車道讓孩童下車
沃森坦言，「開學第1天就發生悲劇事故，我們希望不要再發生類似事故」，同時呼籲家長應避免為求方便在轉彎車道讓孩童下車，應該直接停在學校前面，強調「只要多注意一些，別太匆忙，這場事故完全可以避免」。
